چکیده
Abstract Local and community conservation efforts can increase coral reefs' capacity to adapt climate change. In this community‐engaged study, we examine affective dimensions other psychosocial factors associated with coastal user intentions behaviors on Maui, Hawai‘i. October November 2019, surveyed users ( n = 299). We found natural place attachment, sense of responsibility, concern for reef ecosystems were positively personal intentions; civic attachment was signing the Pono Pledge, a voluntary commitment. response efficacy corresponding levels intentions. Our results provide insights into that may underpin behavior inform partner communications outreach.

متن کاملForest conservation delivers highly variable coral reef conservation outcomes.
Coral reefs are threatened by human activities on both the land (e.g., deforestation) and the sea (e.g., overfishing). Most conservation planning for coral reefs focuses on removing threats in the sea, neglecting management actions on the land. A more integrated approach to coral reef conservation, inclusive of land-sea connections, requires an understanding of how and where terrestrial conserv...
متن کاملBacterial Community Associated with the Reef Coral Mussismilia braziliensis's Momentum Boundary Layer over a Diel Cycle
Corals display circadian physiological cycles, changing from autotrophy during the day to heterotrophy during the night. Such physiological transition offers distinct environments to the microbial community associated with corals: an oxygen-rich environment during daylight hours and an oxygen-depleted environment during the night. Most studies of coral reef microbes have been performed on sampl...

Corals transplanted to Sentosa, an island south of the main island of Singapore, from a reef due for reclamation, were monitored and assessed one year after completion of a massive two-year transplantation exercise. This transplantation exercise was conducted by the Marine Conservation Group of the Nature Society (Singapore). Assessment of the 3m x 3m permanent quadrat showed that 24.29% of tra...
